This month’s face of the months is Zakaria Babutsidze who joined UNU-MERIT in September 2005 as a PhD researcher. Since September, 2006 he is also a Teaching Assistant, or AiO, at the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University.
He is in the final stages of his PhD which analyses the effects of consumer interaction
on various economic phenomena ranging from organization of economic behaviour in social space to R&D and advertising policies of firms.
Zakaria is a frequent speaker on academic conferences and his paper called R&D behaviour and the emergence of fat-tailed firm size distributions was recently recognized as an ‘outstanding contribution to Applied Evolutionary Economics’ by the International Joseph A. Schumpeter Society.
From March through June 2010, Zakaria is a visiting scholar at the
Center of Complexity in Business at Robert H. Smith School of Business,
University of Maryland. There he is working on a new research
project studying the effects of social networks on consumer behaviour. |
